Continuing TBTB blogswarm, the beat goes on

YES, ASSHOLES. WOMEN DO HAVE THE RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE FULLY IN ALL ASPECTS OF SOCIETY. AND THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO FEEL SAFE WHILE DOING SO.
In such a group, if you stand up and say “this is over the line” you run the very real possibility of them turning all that anger on you, and they know all your secrets.
This is not about feminism, this is about bein’ human.
The idea is simple: Women shouldn’t have to be afraid to participate in the blogging community (or life in general) because they’re women.
Take Back the Blog TODAY!
The Daily Misadventures
That sort of crap is going on right here and right now, in the United States.
In solidarity with ALL women who have remained courageous and determined to take their place in the world, despite the obstacles that are constantly thrown in their way.
Regarding TBTB and a day of silence.
We’re saying, “you can’t force me to silence my blog. I will continue to speak, to write, to blog. Harassers are not welcome.”
just because it hasn't happened to me yet doesn't mean it's not going to happen.
The Take Back the Blog blogswarm is today.
(don't piss us off please)
waiting to be made real
There are two layers of the take back the blog movement, the first being women taking back the blog in a "take back the night" sort of way- the original intent- which started because of personal threats against female bloggers.
The second layer of this movement is a very heartfelt cry from all bloggers to take back their blogs from comment trolls (people who say nasty things for no apparent reason).
Take Back The Blog! & Stop "wrestling with the pigs".
Being an eternal optimist, I’m confident that civil discourse is possible - but only if those of us who are interested in it put our collective foot down and refuse to tolerate abuse, hate speech, threats, silencing, and other such bullshit that most certainly does not fall under the umbrella of Free Speech.
Bis heute habe ich keine negativen Erfahrungen gemacht in/mit der Blogosphäre und ich hoffe, das bleibt auch so.
Tal i com ja vaig anunciar en el bloc, m'afageixo al blogswarm Take up de Blog!
in support of the rights of women to participate fully in all aspects of our society, including specifically online in the world of blogging but indeed everywhere and at all times,
Today (well, today in California :) is Take Back the Blog! day (thank you, Span, for the heads-up), in which we techychickies assert our right to a harassment/threat-free presence on teh Intarwebs.
